Brahms in Wroclaw - Romantic Adventure

Midori Oshima
Midori Oshima - a mezzo-soprano, the laureate of the leading international awards at
international vocal competitions. She got the first award at the Vocal Competition in
Munich and the first award as well as a special distinction at the International
Competition in Kobe, Japan. She cooperated with lots of outstanding conductors.,
among others with Marcello Viotti and Marris Jansons. She was born in Japan and she
received musical education both in singing and in piano playing, studying both for five
years at the Mukogawa Women's University, Japan, and then at a master class
at the Faculty of Opera Singing at Richard Strauss’s Conservatoire in Munich.
A Polish tenor, Leo Garda, was her professor, and under his guidance she is still
working on the biggest opera parts, among others her leading part of Eboli in Verdi’s
“Don Carlos”, which she performs in many opera theatres and concert halls in lots of
countries, among others in Japan, Italy, Germany, Austria and France. She also
performs in many opera houses the title part in “Rossini’s “Cinderella”, the part of
Azucena in Giuseppe Verdi’s “The Troubadour” and the part of Santuzza in
P. Mascagni’s opera “The Peasant Chivalry”,/ “Cavaleria Rusticana”/, the part of Siebel in
Charles Gounod’s opera “Faust”. She also sings oratorio music, taking part in many
concerts and international festivals. She is the Artistic Director of the International
Brahms Festival in Wrocław.
